Light of dawn
Do you want to join an unforgettable boat tour in the dawn on the lake Maelaren, close
to Stockholm in Sweden? When the day breaks and the nature is just about to wake up we are
silently floating among the islands watching the morning hunt of the osprey.
If we are lucky we can also watch the sea eagle looking for food. More frequent nesting
birds are great crested grebe, tufted duck, goosander, grey heron and cormorants.
The arrangements
- The dawn tour
- Stars 5.00 AM. Estimated time of return 8.00 AM.
- We leave the jetty in the dawn of the day in a fast sailing boat. As the winds are
quite weak this time of the day we use the (electrical) engine. The silent engine also
makes it easier to get closer to any interesting bird that we might find. We can stay
for a longer time - maybe trying to take photos of the osprey or whatever bird we
managed to get in sight. Or we proceed to other islands. During the tour you will be
served tea or coffee and some sandwiches.
- The day tour
- I am also offering half- and full day tours where we are
focusing more on sailing than on bird watching. The full day tour includes lunch.
- The over night tour
- After finishing any of the tours above you are
put ashore on an uninhabited island.
Please bring food, water and proper camping gear. You will be picked up the following
day.
